ADR stands for Alternative Dispute Resolution, which is a way to resolve a dispute without going to court.

How does ADR work?

• ADR can be used to resolve disputes between parents in relation to children, and between parties who have been in a relationship (whether married or not) regarding finances, including property
• ADR can be cheaper, more flexible, and less stressful than going to court
• ADR can be confidential
• ADR can help narrow down a problem before going to court

The types of ADR that we offer are:

• Arbitration
• Mediation: Our Head of Chambers is an accredited mediator
• Private FDRs (financial dispute resolution): as an alternative to having a hearing in matrimonial finance or cohabitation disputes, parties can agree to have this process out of court, which is more flexible and faster than waiting for the court
• Early neutral evaluation: this is a paper exercise, where an experienced barrister offers an Opinion on a neutral basis to both parties, which they can hopefully use to settle their dispute between themselves
