It's a family thing.
Chambers is the oldest and most established set in Northampton. Originally formed in the 1970s by barristers moving from Birmingham and London sets, chambers has retained its separate identity since that time. Located in the heart of the town centre, we are a short walk from the Northampton Combined Court Centre and the town’s Magistrates’ Court.
We’ve operated from our home at 10 Spencer Parade since 2011 and have continued to develop the business since then, with the client as a priority at all times. With barristers always prepared to go the extra mile for our clients, we’re in the enviable position of having a long and proud history together with the vision and adaptability to continue to prosper in an ever changing marketplace.
Whilst we pride ourselves in maintaining our status as a common law set, chambers has an emphasis on family law. Chambers remains committed to the retention of both publicly and privately funded work

Each individual Barrister in Northampton Chambers
- Offers their services under “The (New) Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons (2012)” and is available for viewing here and a guide is available here

- Is insured for professional liability by the Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund, details of which can be found here
- Is an independent practitioner in their own right. Northampton Chambers is an unincorporated association of all individual members of Chambers

Northampton Chambers Family Fees Information

At Northampton Chambers, privately funded matters are charged using two primary models:
- Fixed-Fee Model – Typically applied to court hearings.
- Hourly-Rate Model – Used for non-court-related advice.
Under both models, clients are charged either directly by their instructed solicitor or by Counsel through the Public Access scheme. All private fees are influenced by the following factors:
- Seniority and expertise of Counsel
- Complexity of the case
- Urgency of the work required
- Location of the hearing

Timescales
All cases are dependent on varying timescales and these will be dependent on the type of work required and the specific nature of the case, and will be agreed at the time of instruction.
