Pupillage:

Chambers is looking to recruit a pupil to begin pupillage in March/April of 2008.

All applications should be made directly to chambers in the form of a CV and a handwritten covering letter, addressed to the 'Pupillage Committee'. The closing date for applications is 4 pm on Friday 4th January 2008.

As indicated above, it is hoped that the successful candidate can begin pupillage on Monday 31st March 2008 (although this date is subject to possible amendment).

It is anticipated that the first round of interviews will take place towards the end of January 2008, with the second round in February. Prospective candidates must ensure that they are available for interview during these months. It is highly likely that the interviews (both first and second round) will take place on a Saturday.

It should also be noted that the successful candidate will likely be informed of the decision at the end of February or the beginning of March. Accordingly those applying must be able to begin pupillage on approximately 4 weeks notice.

- Pupillage is for twelve months, subject to a quarterly review of progress. Tenancy is not guaranteed.

- During the last three years, a total of 6 pupils have successfully completed pupillage. Four were offered tenancy and one was offered a third six.

- Pupils can expect a varied pupillage and will spend time with experienced criminal; family and civil practitioners from within chambers. The successful candidate can expect to gain experience from both court and paper exercises.

- During their second six pupils can expect to be in court in their own right at least three days per week.

- Chambers is committed to pupil training and pupils are encouraged to attend any courses which they feel will be of benefit to them, in addition to the compulsory training programme.

- Pupils are kept extremely busy and are rewarded with a warm welcome into a very friendly and forward thinking set.

Mini-Pupillages are also available to those studying law and with an interest in a career at the bar. Applications for mini-pupillage should be sent with a CV and covering letter addressed for the attention of Rebecca Wade or Matthew Maynard.
